Emergency services have been to multiple crashes in the region. Power is out to some Lake Ōkareka residents after a car crashed into a power pole about 11.25am.
Unison spokesman Danny Gough said they had a large number of crews out at the site and 66 customers would be without power until 6pm tonight. On top of this, 550 customers would be without power for around 15 minutes this afternoon then for 15 more minutes tonight.
Gough said damage to the pole was extensive and crews had to cut off power to dig it out and replace it. A police spokeswoman said there were no injuries in the crash.
