The Lake Okareka Fire Force is currently fundraising to acquire a new fire appliance to replace their old 1979 Dodge truck. The Lake Okareka chief fire officer Philip Muldoon said “that we have currently raised 60% from Rotorua District Council, First Sovereign Trust, New Zealand Community Trust, The Southern Trust and our own contribution from participating in community events.
We are waiting to hear back from several other trusts but donations from the community are greatly appreciated.” The Lake Okareka Fire Force is looking to hold their 30th Anniversary next year as it was established in the summer of 1983. Should you want to make a donation please view their website www.okarekaruralfire.com for more information, or contact Phil on (07) 3628874.
