Well, it’s that time of the year again – Christmas certainly comes around fast.
Now that the weather is getting warmer and the fire danger increasing, please keep a wary eye out for any signs of smoke in the bush. If you are planning on burning any rubbish, don’t forget to adhere to local permit procedures and observe the fire bans. Again, thanks to those local residents who take the time to inform me of permitted fires they are going to light in the area. Predictions are for a windy summer, so even if you have a fire permit, let common sense prevail and don’t leave fires unattended.
With the winter chill now (supposedly) behind us, it is also a good time to get those chimneys swept … after all, we don’t want Santa getting dirty.
The brigade will once again be losing some of our younger members in the New Year as they head out of town to university or other such ventures. Therefore, we are once again looking for new recruits (male and female, young and old). New members receive full training, full uniform, safety boots, overalls, etc. Come and learn some valuable new skills, and make a contribution to your community at the same time.
For further information on the brigade or any other enquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact me (Phone 362 8874).
Have a safe and happy festive season.
Phil Muldoon
Chief Fire Officer
