On Saturday 17th May 2014, Lake Okareka fire-fighters Kierin Oppatt, Blair Gilbert and Phil Rennie will be racing up the 1,103 stairs of Auckland’s Sky Tower in full firefighting kit weighing 25kgs. It will be the first year that Lake Okareka fire-fighters will be entered in the Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenge which has been running for the past 10 years. To raise vital funds and awareness for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC).
In 2013, the event raised over $480,000.00 through 550 fire-fighters from across New Zealand. Lake Okareka Fire Force was fortunate enough to be able to register 3 of our fire-fighters before registration of 700 fire-fighters became full within 20 minutes of opening on the 3rd December. Therefore, we would like to make the best opportunity of this privilege to be able to participate and would greatly appreciate your support so please sponsor us.
Every cent that’s raised through the Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenge goes directly towards helping the 10,000 New Zealanders living with a blood cancer or related condition and the 6 diagnosed each day.
