I must mention a caution about fallen powerlines. PLEASE DON’T DRIVE OVER THEM as some residents did not so long ago. Wet tyres conduct electricity. One live wire had 11,000 volts running through it - that’s enough to give you a permanent perm ... or worse!!
Another cause for concern is the number of security gates appearing around the community. Could those owners please contact me as we would prefer using a delicate method of opening them in an emergency rather than employing our big red key (ie. the one with two handles and a set of jaws).
We hope our recent smoke detector drive has raised awareness in the community. Those who indicated a need for smoke detectors will be contacted in due course.
Thank you to those generous residents who have shown support for the fire brigade through their donations. Any more donations would be gratefully received.
Also, thank you to Pak ‘n’ Save for supporting the brigade in its fundraising activities.
I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Jason Ward as our latest recruit to the fire brigade.
Due to several of our younger members leaving for university, we have positions available for new recruits, both male and female. Full training, pagers, safety gear and uniform are provided. The firefighters are not on a roster system; we operate on having enough members within the community to provide coverage at any given time. Since inception, the brigade has always been able to turn out a crew to an incident. This is a record we are very proud of and will endeavour to maintain.
For further information on the brigade or any other enquiries, please don’t hesitate to call me (Phone 362 8874).
