Well, it’s that time of the year again—Christmas certainly comes around with a rush!
This year has been an interesting and challenging one for your local brigade. The training undertaken during the year and ongoing courses ensures that we can provide a very high standard of service to our community and, with your support, shall continue to do so well into the future.
We have responded to 18 call-outs this year, both locally and out of the area. This indicates a strengthened working relationship with the NZ Fire Service and the Rotorua District Council.
We would like to welcome three new members to the brigade—Liz Wilson, Mary-Anne Kenny, and Gareth Johns—and also welcome back Johannes Walters on his return after a stint overseas.
Now the weather is getting warmer and the fire danger increasing, please keep a wary eye out for any signs of smoke in the bush, and if you are planning on burning any rubbish, don’t forget your permit!!
Let’s also make life easier for Santa and get those chimneys swept (sooty footprints on the carpet take a fair bit of cleaning).
We received a very welcome response to my request for a table for the new training room. Many thanks to Chris and Helen Russell for not only providing a table but also six chairs to match.
For further information on the brigade or any other enquiries, please don’t hesitate to call me (Phone 362 8874).
Have a safe and happy festive season.
Phil Muldoon, Chief Fire Officer
