As spring will soon be upon us with summer just around the corner we all need to be reminded that the “FIRE SEASON” will arrive as well — your vigilance over past years has ensured that no serious fires, either house or scrub has happened within the Okareka community, let’s all ensure that we keep it that way.

The Lake Okareka Fire Force Incorporated was incorporated in April of 1994 to manage the assets of the Fire Force owned by the community.
The building and equipment are being leased by LOFF Inc. to the Lake Okareka Fire Force 110, the operational division. They maintain the equipment and provide fire protection to Lake Okareka. The unit provides an improved service to Lake Okareka with training of fire personnel by the fire service and financial support through the Rotorua District Council, from the National Rural Fire Authority.
The LOFF Inc proposes to extend the fire station building to provide a training room adjacent to the vehicle room. Extending the building forward 3.9 metres will allow for this. The funds are already in place from successful fundraising projects. Once permits have been approved, we will be requesting voluntary labour assistance for the building of the extension.
We extend our appreciation and thanks to the law firm of “The Lawyers” (McKechnie, Quirke & Lewis), who have willingly supported this community activity.
