Well, another quiet period for the fire brigade – which must be good news for everyone else.
We are continuing with the upgrade of the fire station, and the main extension has now been completed. We are now working on the interior – constructing a radio room, office, kitchen and a training / social room. All the work is being done on a voluntary basis, and any helpers would be more than welcome at the fire station at 7.30pm each Wednesday…
You may have noticed that our sign is looking a bit sad. Is there anybody out there who can donate material, time or skills, so that we can have a new sign to complement the new station? Please call if you can help 362 8105.
On Saturday, 13 November, we are hosting the Annual Pumping Competition. Remember, we won last year, an achievement we plan to repeat this year. We need volunteers to take part in this event, but most of all, we need lots and lots of supporters on the day. Mark the date in your diary….and watch the shop signboards for information closer to the time…
Finally, we need more volunteer firefighters. It is not a hard job, it is fun (especially at 2am on a cold, wet night), and it is rewarding. Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old and of average fitness and can be male or female. We provide all the training, equipment and safety gear. This is a great way to give something back to the community, so if you're interested in being involved, give me a call on 362 8105.
In the mean time, take care.
